Hi Everyone,
One of the things we wanted to have on this trip was pork katsu. We came across Katsuan Tempozan Market Place on the way to the Osaka Aquarium with a bit of a line waiting to go in. Having a line in Japan is a good sign, meaning that the food is worth lining up for so we decided to give it a go. The wait wasn’t that long luckily as the restaurant was fairly big so there were plenty of seats.
The menu was pretty expensive. The kids ordered their kids set, Hubby ordered a pure pork katsu meal while I ordered a set with pork and oyster (Kaki) set. The set comes with a soup, a small side dish of pickles, rice, and a whole heap of cabbage. It did take some time for the food to get ready, I guess they wanted to serve everyone at the table at the same time so the food all came out at once.
Both the kids ordered a different kids set and both seemed to look pretty substantial. In particular, I love the curry set BB E ordered, that is something I would eat. Hubby’s pork set was pretty impressive, the pork was very juicy and it was enough for him. One note is that you can order a bigger rice if needed to fill you up, from memory no extra charge. Finally to my half-pork oyster set. It’s currently oyster season so the oyster is particularly fat and juicy, something we don’t normally get in Sydney.
Service here is minimal as the restaurant is very busy. You get water on the table and basic utensils are ready for you. The price of the meals is pretty reasonable considering the amount of food you are getting. Located inside the mall next to the aquarium, this is a great stop to have a meal before or after you visit the aquarium just like we did.
