Our garden in August

in HiveGarden9 months ago

It's already the middle of August and so many things happened in our garden that I haven't written about.

This month we are picking tomatoes. The first tomatoes we planted were seeds from old varieties. They became tall plants, but their flowers withered and never produced fruit. Only our hybrid bed produced fruit.

We also have cherry tomatoes which are very aromatic.

This season we have a lot of cucumbers, which are terribly tasty and crunchy. We have planted hybrid varieties of cucumbers and an old variety - Crocodile.

The okra plants got so tall! I planted two types of okra - traditional and red okra. The traditional one grew tall and we regularly harvest from it, while the red okra was attacked by insects at the beginning of growth and dried up.

At the beginning of the month we harvested the corn. It was delicious. We also have corn for popcorn, but it needs to dry before we can harvest it.

We have planted one bed with cambi and one bed with peppers. They are already well formed, but they are green. We look forward to them turning red.

This year we have eggplant. Between the plants I planted the marigold plant. There was also savory, which we had already collected to dry for seasoning. Despite the good coexistence of these plants with Eggplant, not all plants bear fruit. Some are attacked by enemies and their fruits fall before they even form.

We also have some watermelons. They are still small and we are eagerly waiting for them to mature.

We also have melons that we are already picking. They are not large, but they are very tasty.

We continue to harvest zucchini that bear fruit since the beginning of May. We have also planted new plants that are yet to bear fruit.

Thank you for stopping by!

Amazing little garden with so many plants. Tomatoes look so red! I am surprised you could grow melons and peppers too.

Melons and peppers are some of our favorite fruits and vegetables 👍😍

I am very happy to see those clear and engaging shorts you take most of them that one which you used as a thumbnail can I ask how you captured that sphere like photo.

I'm glad you like my photos @mojiko-blog. The first photo is taken with a 360 camera - Insta 360x3.

Looks like a lot going on in your garden. Would love you to share about how you cook your okra!

It's true - there's a lot going on in our garden @gardenhive 👍😍.
I marinate the okra in jars. I prepare it as follows: In each jar I put 3 tablespoons of vinegar, 1 spoon of sugar, 1 spoon of salt, black peppercorns, fennel, garlic cloves. I fill the jar with okra and add water. I put vine leaves on top. I close and shake the jar every other day. After a week, the pickled okra is ready 😊.

Oh, that's interesting! Do you eat it in salads?

Don't forget the challenge is only officially open for a week - I'm only back here to check who needed to be added to the list.

Yes, we also eat it in salad 👍
