The technical is changing our life every day, with the addition of new developments the life is becoming easier. Some time it looks magical when we look back in time when we were kid. You may be laughing on my words is you are below 15 years, just ask you grand parents you will come to know this is really a magic which technology brings to us. The computers are the one of the biggest invention till now, every new developments is part of it, you look around and will find almost every advanced technology is basically using a small computer or logical board, let it be smart phone, IOT, smart watches etc. Recently I visited the Ireland to meet my brother and his family, it was a great experience even the time was short but I enjoyed the trip and it was second foreign trip of mine. My brother has Tesla car which is electric car with some amazing features. I was exploring the dashboard and find it has self driving mode also but unfortunately it was disabled because it was not available in Ireland. But it still has the smar mode which is not fully automatic self driving experience but give the car freedom to take care of some car controls like it applies the breaks automatically when it senses someone in front of him within some pre defined distance, it also worn you if car try to go out of lane by vibrating the steering.
The self driving cards are based on the software or logics and it take decision based on some pre defined rules or logics only. For a human driving the car means he can take decision like when to take turn or apply breaks is based on his sense and experience but for a self driving car this all decisions comes form the software logic. Now the big question is what if their will be some bug in the software which make it behave bad while driving. No doubt their will be a months of testing and debugging before the launch as per protocol what in real life when those cars will be on roads their will be a thousands of situations may arise and it's impossible to simulate all of those real life scenarios. What happened if some one hacked the software of the car and try to crash the car or use it for of illegal purpose. The technology always comes with advantages and disadvantages. The main advantage is the discipline om roads which is also reduced the chance of accident on roads. The logic of software will not allow the vehicle or user to break the rules like following the lights and lane, speed limits etc.
The concept is very appropriate for the developed countries where the condition of roads is much better and the people following the rules but its I can imagine the chaos it will create on roads. Chaos because the people are not habitual to follow the rules and self driving car will not break the rule. People do not follows the lane and traffic lights and also over speed in even local roads and this is also the reason for road accidents majorly. On one side the technology will reduce the risk of accident but on other side if their will be mix of traffic (manual driving and self driving cards) on roads tis will sure be the wort condition.
The road conditions also play a crucial role in implementing the such technology and the roads condition is poor in all developing centuries which will be a big hurdle in the adoption of the technology thorough out the country.
One big question will always be the matter of debate which is in case of an accident who will be responsible - the car company or the person sitting inside the car? At first it looks the car company will be responsible but the other side is what is the situation and conditions which leads to the accident? This is matter of investigation for sure.
The self driving cars is a segment which is evolving and still the technology is early stage. Their are many factors will decide the fate of this technology like the cost effectiveness, user adoption, condition of roads etc. I guess the semi automatic driving car will also come into picture soon may be.
