Eating Buckwheat Noodles and Then Sweets After Yard Work
After yard work in the morning, I had soba noodles for lunch today. Before the sun hit the front side of my house, I decided to do some weeding and carry wood for the wood stove to the woodshed. The front side of my house is usually very cool and breezy in the morning. However, when the sun reaches its peak, the front of my house gets extremely hot. That’s why I wanted to finish my yard work in the morning.
After finishing my yard work, I decided to pick some beans and berries before lunch. I noticed that weeds were everywhere after the heavy rain. Phew... I don’t think I can do everything at once.
The heavy rain affected my driveway. My husband fixed the damaged part the other day, but unfortunately, the rain washed some gravel away again. I guess he’ll have to fix it again.
I really enjoyed eating soba noodles because they were super delicious, especially in the hot weather. I usually add toppings to cold summer soba noodles. Today, I added chopped cucumbers, eggs, shiso leaves, and seaweed.
After lunch, I had some cookies called Bourbon Lumonde, which are from Japan. These cookies have thin, crispy crepe layers wrapped in cream that quickly melts in your mouth. I used to have these cookies when I was young.

庭仕事の後の蕎麦、そしてお菓子
今日は庭仕事のあと、昼食に蕎麦を食べました。家の正面側に太陽が当たる前に草むしりと置いてある薪を薪小屋に運ぶ作業を終えたくて、午前中にとりかかりました。午前中は家の正面側はたいてい涼しくて風通しがいいです。しかし、正午を超えて暑さがピークを迎えるとかなり暑くなりますので、午前中に終えてしまうのが得策です。
庭仕事を終えてから、昼食前に豆やベリーをとろうと思いました。大雨のせいで雑草が生え放題なことに気がつきました。ふぅ…一気に草むしりをするのは不可能です。
大雨で私道部分にダメージができました。先日主人が直してくれたばかりなのですが、残念ながらまた雨で砂利が流されてしまいました。また近々もう一度やり直す必要がありそうです。
昼食の蕎麦はとてもおいしくいただきました。特に夏の冷たい蕎麦は食欲をそそります。冷たい蕎麦にトッピングをして食べることが多いです。今日は細く切ったきゅうり、たまご、しその葉とのりをのせて食べました。
昼食後、母が送ってくれたブルボンのルマンドクッキーをおやつに食べました。ルマンドは薄くてサクサクのレイヤーでクリームを巻いたお菓子で、あっという間に口の中でとけてなくなってしまいます。昔、よく食べた記憶があります。
