We always look forward to our parents' birthday every year. Aside from the good health and happiness of our parents that we always prayed for, we siblings anticipate with excitement their birthday as it is also the special time of the year that we can get to dine out in an expensive restaurant, well not necessarily fine dining. Oh, my mother hated that much! She just wanted to have a simple setup, not the kind where she needs to be conscious about table etiquette using those giant spoons and forks. She just wants to be simple and homey because for her there's no place like home.
Since my mother is a little picky about the place she wants to celebrate her birthday it has become a challenge for us to find a restaurant that suits her taste especially now that we almost tried all the restaurants in our hometown. Thankfully I found a new restaurant in the neighboring town online, one beside the beach and also serves the food that our mom liked best. The place is just so perfect with its mouth-watering dishes and warm "Bali" like ambiance, the Mar Azul of San Remegio.
The Boodle!
Mar Azul Restaurant offers a wide variety of dishes that are more than enough to satisfy our cravings. They serve a feast fit for the whole village. haha. As such they have Banca Unli Seafood, Banca Fiesta Boodle that comes with two sets, Ala Carte (Pork, Chicken, beef, Seafood, Soup), salads, desserts, and fresh drinks! Among these, we ordered the Banca Fiesta Boodle.
This Fiesta Boodle is just so riggghhtt as it serves exactly our mother's favorite! This includes typical Filipino food delights like Buttered Garlic shrimp, scallops, Daing bangus, Chicken Inasal, Buttered garlic Crab plus the delicious side dishes and fruits.
As we have tried numerous Boodle offers from different restaurants, we have seen a lot of ways of how they are served, most of the time they are served using the banana leaves as plates, but in Mar Azul, we were amazed that their Boodle food is served in a miniature Banca "a small boat" making sense of the name of the Boodle which is the Banca Fiesta Boodle!
We shared the food over a lively conversation and it was clear as day that our mother was happy and enjoyed the food!
The Bali-feels!
Not only does the restaurant offer great food but what I love most about it is its Bali-like ambiance and the bonus part is its right beside the beach!
We had enough time to explore the place especially since we were the only customers at that time so it's like renting the entire place just for us!
I so love the restaurant's structure as a whole. It is beautifully built with bamboo and wood! From the look outside it gives a different kind of feeling, unlike the usual restaurant in my hometown. Its one-of-a-kind structure and design promises us that we will have a great experience in the place.
I was even blown away by its interior from ceiling to walls and floor. Even the furniture is made of woven native materials. Everything was aesthetic transporting us to Bali. And since it is an open restaurant we could feel the refreshing breeze of the sea a perfect match to the warm atmosphere Mar Azul exudes!
Overall we had a fantastic experience, with our tummies very satisfied with the food and our hearts filled with happiness. I knew mother loved it, and without a doubt, we would definitely come back!
