Recently I decided to visit the Bazaar near Lrt Wangsa Maju to buy some food for dinner. After scrolling around, I bought some classic Malaysian bazaar food:
Murtabak – A pan-fried stuffed pancake, usually filled with minced meat, eggs, and spices. It comes with a curry or pickled onion sauce for dipping.History: Murtabak originates from the Middle East and India and was brought to Malaysia by traders. Over time, it evolved into a popular street food, especially during Ramadan.
Roti Jala with Curry – Thin, net-like crepes made from turmeric-infused batter, served with curry.History: Roti Jala, meaning "net bread," is inspired by Indian dosa but adapted with Malay flavours. It is commonly served during festive occasions.
Kuih Tepung Pelita – A traditional Malay dessert with two layers: a sweet pandan-flavoured bottom and a creamy coconut milk top, wrapped in banana leaves.History: This kuih is believed to have originated from the Malay archipelago and is a Ramadan staple, enjoyed for its soft texture and rich coconut flavour.
