Of course I will feel bored if there is nothing to do besides our main job. It will really be very boring if we keep thinking about work from waking up until going to bed.

IMG_4918.jpeg
Passion or hobby will really help us feel like we are still ourselves, maintaining our mental sanity. I think it can be said that a hobby is a fun escape. Whatever it is! For example, like my hobby which sometimes even spends a lot of energy or even money to buy equipment related to the hobby. But in the end I feel happy.

So this time I had fun again with my garden. I have also shared with you my activities in my garden before. And there will be more activities next because my garden is in the planting period. I have sown several types of plants.

Composting Kitchen Waste

Before I harvest in my garden, I will continue to compost kitchen waste. Every few days, I will move organic kitchen waste to the composting place.

I started composting in a used water gallon two weeks ago. Then this is the last day I added kitchen waste to this container.

IMG_4923.jpeg

I added kitchen waste then added cardboard pieces, and finally, I covered it with a layer of compost soil.

Today, this composting container is full. I will store this container with a black plastic cover, and I will open it later, maybe a month later to check the development of the texture of the kitchen waste.

I am really excited to wait for this kitchen waste to change its texture into compost soil. We will see together later.

Water Spinach Update

IMG_4927.jpeg
Some time ago, I did organic fertilization on the water spinach plants that I had harvested. I harvested them by cutting their lowest main stems. I did that so that I could harvest water spinach again while waiting for other plant seeds to be ready to be transplanted to this area.

IMG_4920.jpeg
So after two weeks, this is the water spinach that has regrow again and can be harvested! That is indeed faster than the harvest age when planting from seeds which is usually from 20 days to 25 days.

IMG_4919.jpeg

I am also excited to harvest water spinach. And this time I harvest water spinach by pulling it out. Because I already have mustard greens seeds that are ready to be transplanted.

IMG_4925.jpeg

This time the water spinach harvest is also quite a lot and I will share it with my new neighbors in the area of my rented house. I am very happy, my hobby also allows me to share with others even if only a little.

Then, I will cook water spinach for lunch! With a simple recipe, just stir-fry with a mixture of anchovies with spicy seasoning.

Cooking Fresh Water Spinach

IMG_4926.jpeg

After having fun with compost, and harvesting, I cook for lunch!

IMG_4936.jpeg
I wash the water spinach thoroughly with running water. Then remove the roots. And cut them into pieces.

IMG_4937.jpeg
Then I just need to prepare garlic, shallots, and chilies. And, oh, anchovies.

IMG_4939.jpeg
IMG_4938.jpeg
I soak the anchovies in hot water for a few minutes while I prepare the others.

IMG_4935.jpeg
After that, saute the garlic and shallots first. Only then do I add the water spinach and tomatoes. Stirring them well. Then add anchovies.

IMG_4934.jpeg

IMG_4933.jpeg

I only need 5 minutes to wait for them to cook. Then later served with rice for lunch!

IMG_4932.jpeg

The taste of fresh organic vegetables just picked from your own garden is indeed different.

IMG_4931.jpeg

It has a fresh "sweet" taste that is attached to fresh vegetables.

IMG_4907.jpeg
Next, I will also plant water spinach, also green spinach. See you in my next garden journal!

Growing things is really good for our mental health. Whatever you grow yourself, a flower, a tree, a vegetable, anything is good for both mental and physical health.

I like your YouTube video, chief. I will contribute to you with the “Join” feature. I don't know how much 7.5 Turkish lira is worth in your country 😅

hi sister so fulfilling to read your blog. There is something a deep nurturing life. It reminds me of our old house because my father loves to do gardening. He has a green thumb where seeds get easily grow. For him gardening is joy and nature is peace. I miss my dad. I want to read more about your blog so interesting. Take care.

I remember my mother doing the same thing and her gardens were very healthy like yours. Unfortunately I don't have a garden but when I prepare a small garden at home I will use this recipe to keep the plants healthy. 😍 Have a beautiful day dear friend 😍✨

Maybe we should all at some point in our lives plant a garden, I see it as very necessary to know oneself and find oneself in nature.
