Hello to everyone! š This is officially my first āproperā post here and I couldnāt be happier that itās about one of my favorite things to make (and eat): homemade pizza. I truly love to cook, but Iāll admit it... sometimes Iām just lazy. There are weeks when I donāt cook anything special at all, except for quick breakfasts like eggs or something fast and simple. But when the mood hits⦠oh, then I go all in! This time, I made three big homemade pizzas, two white ones with sour cream, domestic Serbian style bacon, and eggs, and one classic red version with tomato, salami, cheese and lots of oregano.
š„£ Making the dough (I did a thin crust version) ā
For three baking trays (mine are 34Ć44 cm) hereās the exact dough recipe I used:
840 g all-purpose white flour
500 ml lukewarm water
18 g salt
10 g dry yeast (instant)
1 teaspoon of sugar
2 tablespoons of olive oil
Method:
In a large bowl, mix the flour and salt. Add dry yeast, sugar, oil, then pour in lukewarm water and let it sit and ferment for a bit. Stir everything together, then knead for about 8ā10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
Let it rise for about 1ā1.5 hours, covered.
Once itās doubled in size, divide the dough into three equal parts, each piece makes one thin pizza. Or if you prefer a slightly thicker crust, make two pizzas instead of three... believe me you canāt go wrong with that! ā
The dough turned out perfectly soft and elastic, with a thin crispy bottom after baking. Yummy!
White Serbiana
For one tray, hereās exactly what I used:
~ 3 cloves of garlic, finely chopped
~ ¼ of a large onion, finely chopped
~ 4 full tablespoons of sour cream
~ salt and pepper to taste
~ 2 smaller pieces of homemade bacon, lightly fried and drained of all fat (so the pizza doesnāt turn greasy)
~ 2 whole eggs, cracked on top before baking
~ grated cheese (I used kaÄkavalj, but any melty cheese works great)
I mixed the sour cream with garlic, onion, salt and pepper and spread it evenly over the rolled out dough. Then I added the crispy bacon pieces and baked it for a few minutes just until it started to set a bit. Then came the best part: I added two whole eggs on top, sprinkled the cheese generously, and baked until the eggs were just set and the edges golden.
Everyone loved it! We couldnāt even wait for it to cool down, we ate it hot, right out of the oven. š Then I made the second white pizza the same way, using the exact same ingredients and steps... and it disappeared just as fast!
Oh, and yes⦠I cried a whole round while chopping the onion because I leaned way too close trying to take a photo! But hey, anything for Hive! ā¤ļø
The Classic Pizza
For the third pizza, I switched to a red classic base. I used:
~ thick tomato sauce
~ a bit of spicy ketchup
~ slices of Alpine salami
~ 2 beaten eggs (mixed into the topping)
~ grated "kaÄkavalj" cheese
~ lots and lots of oregano
~ and ofc 2 whole eggs on top again (because we all love it)
And here you can see how both the white and the classic red one turned out golden, bubbly, and honestly too good to wait for a proper photo shoot. I tried ma best to snap a few quick pictures before my family attacked the trays, which explains my funny posing with a full plate and that slightly rushed smile. Letās just say the pizzas were way more photogenic than I was at that moment! š
The food looked great, tasted even better, and thatās what really matters, right? Next time Iāll try to take pictures before everyone starts circling the oven like hungry wolves⦠maybe. xD
Thank you all so much for reading and if you try this recipe, tag me so I can see your version! š©āš³
