Having an opportunity to build your own home is both a blessing and an achievement. Some people are working so hard to save money for their dream houses, and it's not a common scenario happening in the world. Who does not want to build their dream home, right?
And once you finally and successfully completed your goal of having your home built, the first thing that will come up to your head is to have a House Blessing, where there are rites to protect your home from unfortunate events. Here in the Philippines, it is a common ceremony and we actually prepare portion of good foods as well.
Preparing a simple lunch for people who wanted to celebrate a house blessing serves as an appreciation to as they take part on this small achievement. Luckily, I got an invitation to celebrate it with a family that just got their home built last year. I did not have the chance to take pictures during the rites where a priest was requested to pray over the house since it's a solemn moment.
After joining the family during the rites of the house blessing, the next thing we did is prepare the foods for the visitors, like relatives, colleagues, and friends. There are several dishes cooked by the house owner and we just prepared them in the table.
Here are the foods for the lunch after the house blessing rites:

As you can see, most of the dishes are pork meats. But not everyone would enjoy that without an ice breaker. The home owner also cooked some fried fish as another viand different to the previous ones. This is for the guests who are not into meats that much.
And after the preparation of these foods, they are finally placed and organized in the table together. There is a total of five (5) dishes that will already fill the tummies of the guests. Before people start coming in, we made sure to prepare everything in the table from the rice, viands, and also the utensils needed.
And to complete the celebration, the Karaoke will always be present. Most Filipinos would agree with this. A celebration or any occasion will be happier and lively with the karaoke.
People started coming, and we assisted them in getting foods. Since I got busier the moment people came in, I did not get the chance to take more pictures. Overall, it was a fulfilling moment for everyone and each of us celebrated and congratulated the home owners for their new house.
I cannot express how thankful I am to those who have taken the time to read what I have written today. Your support means everything to me. Please acknowledge the sincere thanks I feel for each and every one of you. I hope to see you on my next blog and look forward to it. Sending peace and love! :)
