Hello friends and fellow Hivers. I have an upcoming week of work, medical appointments, and basketball games. Hopefully when the week comes to a close I can do some outdoor activity for the weekend. Most of these hold uncertainties because it is not known what the outcomes will be. A positive this week will be the weather. It has been extremely cold this past week and it's forecasted to be much warmer. It will be nice not to see negatives temperature this week. Monday I have two things going on. First comes a dental appointment in the afternoon. I'm not for sure how that will end. I broke a filling recently and had pain in that same tooth before that happened. Will they just take a look at it and reschedule it or do work on it? I plan on just having it pulled because I think it is a root canal cavity.
The other thing planned for Monday is driving two hours away to attend my son's basketball game. Hopefully the dentist doesn't take too long and cause me not being able to attend.
This is what I came into work this morning. Since temperatures are above freezing now things are starting to melt. We have a turd for a building an oldier building what was once just a temporary building threw together in the late 70's. The hallway ceiling is leaking like crazy and I imagine we will have to attend to it often all week until the snow on the roof is gone.
We have used quite a few trash bags, garbage cans and buckets to catch and aid with the dripping water. Also we are using both a wet and dry vacuum to pick up water and any trash that has collected on the floor. Being the person who purchases things for the shop I'm sure I will be buying more buckets and replacing quite a few ceiling tiles.
Some nice icicles formed on the outside again that I had the pleasure of knocking down. It was fun doing that but also a little scary at the same time. I kept thinking that an avalanche of snow was going to follow when I hit those thick icicles. I bet some snow will slide off the roof today.
The last photo is some damage to the building that happened this past weekend. My guess is that a snow plow hit it getting too close to the building. The person on standby this weekend reported it to the base police. I also seen the damage on the inside of the building. The inside wall was pushed in about two inches but nothing went all the way through.
Tuesday my son has another game out of town. He has a lot of back to back games coming up because the weather postponed some of them earlier in the season. The original schedule had games on Tuesday, Fridays and an occasional Saturday. The next two weeks will have this Monday, Tuesday and Friday schedule.
Wednesday I go into see my general practitioner, doctor. I submitted blood work last week so they will go over the results of that. Also I will be talking about a shoulder issue I have had for quite some time. I hope I get solutions for my shoulder and receive a good bill of health on other things.
At my job we have airlift scheduled for Thursday. We will begin by accepting cargo for it on Wednesday. Hopefully the schedule stays on time and doesn't change causing me to miss out on other things.
Friday my son has another basketball game. This time it is a home game. This is a relief because driving can be wearing plus I have to stay up later. I'm sure Tuesday and Wednesday I will be dragging a bit because of lack of sleep.
The weekend ahead holds somethings I want to do. I hope to get outside and enjoy some of the snow. I will probably get out and make a snowman ☃️ Hopefully the snow will be wet enough to do so. Right now it's too fluffy to roll into big round balls.
Since it will be warmer I hope I can do some ice fishing 🎣. Ice conditions on the lakes and ponds built up some thickness during the period of frigid temperatures we had. It's been a few years since I have done this so I'm looking very forward to it.
The last thing I want to accomplish this weekend is go out and do some delivery driving. I can't believe it has been since 1 January when I last did this. Banged up car and really cold snow days prevented me from doing this.
