El sábado tuve la oportunidad de conocer un restaurante que siempre al pasar por su frente me había llamado la atención y es el Restaurante Agua Panela, el cual está ubicado en el centro-este de la ciudad.

On Saturday I had the opportunity to visit a restaurant that always caught my attention when I passed by its front and it is the Agua Panela Restaurant, which is located in the center-east of the city.

Es un restaurante muy conocido por la mayoría de los barquisimetanos, por la excelente calidad de todo tipo de comida, entre tantos platillos ofrecen: desde desayunos hasta almuerzos y cenas. Ofrecen deliciosas hamburguesas, muy famosas en la ciudad, también tienen todo tipo de carnes, pastas, entremeses como tequeños, realmente tienen una gran variedad en sus platos, inclusive los domingos ofrecen una sopa especial para aquellas personas que han despertado como se dice en criollo con un ratón del sábado.

It is a restaurant well known by most of the people of Barquisimeto, for the excellent quality of all kinds of food, among so many dishes they offer: from breakfast to lunch and dinner. They offer delicious hamburgers, very famous in the city, they also have all kinds of meats, pastas, hors d'oeuvres such as tequeños, they really have a great variety in their dishes, even on Sundays they offer a special soup for those people who have woken up as they say in Creole with a Saturday mouse.

Sin embargo el interés de visitar y a su vez conocer este restaurante en este momento fue debido a que una pareja amiga después de una reunión, nos invitó a degustar unas exquisitas arepas que en estos momentos ellos están ofreciendo, debido a una promoción y concurso patrocinado por la gente de empresas polar.

El concurso consiste en que cada restaurante participante ofrece una arepa preparada a su estilo, usando diferentes ingredientes tanto para preparar la masa, como para el relleno y luego con la evaluación de los comensales se decidirá el ganador entre los diez restaurantes que participan.

However the interest to visit and in turn know this restaurant at this time was because a couple friend after a meeting, invited us to taste some delicious arepas that they are currently offering, due to a promotion and contest sponsored by the people of polar companies.
The contest consists of each participating restaurant offering an arepa prepared in its own style, using different ingredients to prepare the dough and the filling, and then with the evaluation of the diners the winner will be decided among the ten participating restaurants.

En Agua panela están participando con una arepa llamada "pernil tentación", que viene con una masa preparada con un consomé de res y pollo tal como se hace para las hallacas, para darle un sabor tradicional.

Viene rellena con pernil navideño, el cual es sazonado y cocinado con aliños propios de la época decembrina como: ají dulce, cebolla, alcaparras, aceitunas verdes, también trae un delicioso queso guayanés que le da un toque cremoso.

Agua Panela is participating with an arepa called “pernil tentación”, which comes with a dough prepared with a beef and chicken consommé as it is done for the hallacas, to give it a traditional flavor.
It is filled with Christmas pork leg, which is seasoned and cooked with seasonings typical of the Christmas season such as: sweet bell pepper, onion, capers, green olives, it also comes with a delicious Guayana cheese that gives it a creamy touch.

El personal que labora allí es muy atento desde el portero que nos recibe en la entrada hasta los meseros que atienden a los comensales. Al sentarnos a la mesa de inmediato, nos mostraron la carta para ordenar el pedido, pero como todos íbamos con el mismo fin, pedimos la arepa que ellos ofrecen, con dos refrescos de coca cola y chinoto.

El restaurante es bastante amplio, cuenta con dos ambientes, el que está en la entrada principal con aire acondicionado que es un poco más privado y una terraza con ventilación natural que fue precisamente el que escogimos para sentarnos.

The staff there is very attentive, from the doorman who greets us at the entrance to the waiters who serve the diners. When we sat down at the table immediately, they showed us the menu to order, but as we were all going with the same purpose, we ordered the arepa they offer, with two cokes and Chinoto.
The restaurant is quite spacious, has two environments, the one at the main entrance with air conditioning which is a little more private and a terrace with natural ventilation which was precisely the one we chose to sit.

La decoración del ambiente está hecha con plantas artificiales que le dan un toque elegante y a su vez muy original. La música con volumen adecuado para relajarse y conversar a gusto. Habian varias familias presentes degustando las famosas arepas por lo que se siente un ambiente hogareño.

sentí la masa crujiente y me hizo recordar aquel 25 de diciembre, donde los venezolanos acostumbramos a levantarnos y almorzar a eso de las tres de la tarde con una arepa rellena de pernil y todo lo que quedó de la noche buena. Me transportó a esa fecha navideña tan esperada por todos para compartir en familia.

Cuando el mesero nos preguntó si nos habia gustado y le dimos esa respuesta nos comentó que esa precisamente era la intención: que los sabores nos llevaran a recordar las arepas de la época navideña.

It transported me to that Christmas date so awaited by all to share with the family.
When the waiter asked us if we liked it and we gave him that answer, he told us that that was precisely the intention: that the flavors would take us to remember the arepas of the Christmas season.

Algo muy importante que no les había comentado es que el precio de cada arepa es de solo tres dólares, un precio bastante módico para cualquier bolsillo y de verdad que vale la pena disfrutar de la gastronomia de este restaurante.

Al final nos pidieron responder a una evaluación donde se nos preguntaba cómo estaba la arepa en cuanto a masa, relleno y sabor. Además evaluaban la atención del personal y del ambiente en general. Todos coincidimos que es un buen sitio para degustar esas sabrosas arepas.
