Greetings!
It was exactly Sunday last week, around 9:00 PM, when I noticed that a friend of mine had not written, which had become a usual thing for her lately. I walked to her DM and asked why she hadn't written, and she replied with,
"I'm scared of writing without getting upvotes."
At first, I smiled mockingly because it's what I used to experience often, which makes me very calculative about what and where I write.
"Yeah, I know this feeling. Have you responded to all the prompts in your easy-to-go communities?" I asked her, and she went on to lament this and that about how she's been writing 'quality posts' without getting noticed.
Okay, I know she's not the only one on this side. I'm there too, and there are many of us.
First of all, what do you call a 'quality post'?
The truth is that this 'quality post' thing means different things to different people on the Blockchain. One day, I had a long conversation in the comments section of one of a well-known person's articles on the Blockchain. He defined it clearly: as long as the grammar is correct, the content should be termed a quality article. But when it comes to personal interests, we have different tastes in what a quality post means. Just like we have people who are very good at pouring out their emotional life in writing, when emotional people see such, they tend to term that an original article and condemn comedy articles as 'not serious.' I used to write a lot of those 'not serious' articles and I know how it feels to be snubbed😅
The truth is, no matter how funny this may sound, it's just the absolute truth. We classify things based on our thoughts and beliefs.
Do you know that a lot of people classify a photo-filled article(maybe travel photos) as more quality compared to fictional stories?
Oh, it's just like that. I also had this discussion with a friend one day, and we went on and on comparing most articles on the Blockchain, and we got it clear.
What am I saying in essence?
Whatever you're writing, as long as it's void of errors, it is quality content. If you're not getting votes on them, then you need to come out of the lazy zone and move around on the Blockchain, get to know people. Don't be like me; I'm very lazy when it comes to moving around on the Blockchain, and that's why I'm struggling too....Although I've been trying my best to pull out
I once lamented on Threads about how frustrating it is to write and not get upvotes.
Guess what?
I received the most comments I've ever received on Threads. A lot of people trooped in, and they were all hitting on: "Do not expect rewards; just write and engage with people."
Ever since then, I've zeroed my mind on getting upvotes. In fact, I no longer write for money. I write out of passion. If you're in my category, come, let's write for passion. Lol.
Thanks for reading.
So I decided to use original photos on this post so as to make it a quality one. Lol😂
