Sweetest Treat

Financier is a french pastry that supposedly has nutty flavors from its main ingredient, almond flour. However, where I am from, almond flour isn’t quite accessible. So, this is my take on a financier using some ingredients swap such as all-purpose flour and hazelnut essence to give it a little bit of nutty flavors and aroma to it.

The more you dive into baking and its world, the more I find more intriguing recipes to try and sometimes I repeat making something only to perfect the recipe. For example, there are basic baked goods like chocolate lava cake and brownie which may look pretty simple but difficult to achieve a delicious balance between the mixture.

Anyhow, here’s how to make Financier with affordable and easy ingredients to find.

This financier has a cakey texture and crispy outer. They are so well-paired with coffee or tea of your preference. This mini financier makes a great sugar rush as it tastes almost as sweet as candy. It’s when you feel like you need some happiness but not too much of it.

It’s also one of the recipes that is easy to make and won’t take too much of your time. To make it extra aesthetic, you can work with the frosting of your choice and actually add some more nut crumble above it.

According to my mom, the bigger shaped financier tastes even more better as they have more room for the cake and the crisp rather than the mini financiers. So, if you have a bigger mold cake, just use it rather than the mini leaves that I have which actually turn financiers almost like a mini-cookie. They can be store up until 2 days even in a room temperature. Having a few of these will definitely give you the sugar rush you need.

My first batch of financier was a complete failure. I overbaked them as I was talking to my mom about what financier is and how to actually make them. So, having lost in conversation, I forgot to take out the financier and they turn extremely golden brown and was inedible. Hence, another reminder when baking financiers, make sure to keep an eye cause they are small and only need shorter baking time.

In that recipe above, I use tiramisu chocolate as a decoration to add more nutty flavors for the each bite. If there were like an almond chocolate flavors, I would have gone with that rather than the tiramisu. Anyway, see you in my next baked goods ideas!

hehe you should do that ;D it's never too late to start & maybe start with a micro cafe. I used to think all these sweets and baked goods are so challenging to make until, I definitely take sometime to understand them and voila! it seems I have baking addiction now.

These mini leaf cakes look absolutely gorgeous and so tempting! I love how you brought a classic financier to life with such a creative and elegant shape. Your step-by-step details and photos make me want to try baking them myself soon!
