Warm and Cozy Lugaw for the Troubled Mind and Gloomy Weather -Made With Glutinous Rice and Has Bite-Sized Chicken

When its cold and the weather is gloomy, a hot and meaty Lugaw or Porridge is the best to have to sooth that coldness. It will make you feel warm and happy for sure. We usually make porridge using regular rice or leftover rice, but this time, we used Glutinous Rice which will make this Porridge more thick and sticky.

To be honest I want my Porridge with a little soup in it, but this version is not that bad too. And, we just received the best blessing, a Glutinous Rice from a relative. And even though we don't have plan to make this, we suddenly crave for it and so ended up having it for lunch. Its a fulfilling food too especially if it has meat in it. Specifically, chicken meat \(◎o◎)/

We need chicken and so we went to the market really quick. Its a quick visit but going here is actually a good thing because a new wet market open up just a few walk away to the main. It's literally just in front of the main. Mama had to check this and only four stalls is available. I guess the others are still preparing?

After a quick stop here, I just bought half kilo of chicken meat and headed home right after. Here's the Glutinous Rice that we receive from a relative. I think it's 3 to 4 kilos. I just clean the rice thoroughly and after that I put a scoop in the casserole and let it boil over medium heat.

We'll just boil it until the rice soften and the soup thicken. Seriously though Porridge is good even with just ginger, garlic, and pepper. But putting a bit of veggies and meat in it will make it tastier. But, sadly, I forgot to grab some carrot. Our Lugaw is really just plain but it is still enjoyable, but to make it healthier putting veggies is also good. Guess i'll just do that next time ಠ ೧ ಠ

Once the Glutinous rice soften and the soup thicken a lil bit, we'll sautee it next using our aromatics, ginger, onion and ginger -ginger is one of the main ingredients here. And with all this, it will make our Lugaw more tastier. We just added salt and some MSG here. I also picked two green spicy chilis in Mama's garden, its spicy so we just use it as aromatics as well, lol

And its done, serve it while it's hot. I'm still taking a photo of it but Mommy F was too excited to eat it haha. I know she's so eager to take a bite already so I snap just two photos, the other one is blurred, haha.

Anyways, although it is delicious because of the aromatics and the chicken, we didn't put a lot of salt in it because its bad for Mommy F. And so, I poured a lil bit of soy sauce and a squeeze of calamansi to mine. Its a happy tummy again during lunch ฅ^•ﻌ•^ฅ

Wow! This is the one I really missed when we are at home. My mother always cooking this during rainy season plus my father cooked "pinikpikan". Reading your blog makes me missed my parents and my siblings.

Ohh, but what's pinkpikan? Its sounds so pekpek, omg, hahahaha

Nyahaha, the one which is popular here in the highland of Luzon. Hehe it was tinola pero Ang chicken need mo paluin gang madedo hehe

Getting to know of another dish from your side. I believe you enjoyed this meal. Have fun.

Hehe, do you also have your own version of porridge? I enjoyed it a lot with the oldies. Hehe

Wow lugaw!

Fav ko te yung lugaw kapag maraming itlog haha. Kapag gumagawa tita ko, minsan may itlog na scrambled like yung kalat kalat ganon pero minsan hard boiled egg lang. Wala, mas bet ko lang te ng ganon

Wow lugaaaw... My mom used to cook it too, using the leftover rice. And sometimes, nilalagyan nya lang ng egg, no chicken or meat. But it's tasty... Dahil sa knorr cubes siguro. 🤭 And most importantly the ginger.

This food is perfect to enjoy when it rains

I have glutenous rice in the cupboard that I never use. I think you have given me a good idea. It reminds me of something my mother made me when I was little. She died when I was eight so I don't know how she made it. I think she put dried shrimp in it and ginger. She was Thai.

Thanks for the inspiration. I need something for the gloomy weather. It's -13C.

Best wishes.
