Dream Path?

in HiveGardenlast month

I'm lucky enough to have a very handy man around the place - Jamie'll build most things I have dreamt about. My chicken coop, various fences and gates, a polytunnel, a firebath , a gazebo - this really has become the garden of my dreams, though there's always work to be done and I don't have a naked maintenance guy to look at. Never mind, I'm counting all my blessings.

It'd be super cool to have a spa sauna and ten years ago we may have had the energy to build one, but I'm not sure we can be bothered now. You can buy ready made saunas for about 5 grand so if we have spare money perhaps that's something we could do, but then, we'd have to build the infrastructure around it like a plunge pool.

I'd also love a natural swimming pool. I'm a water baby and this really appeals to me. However, it's a lot of work and money so again this is just a pipe dream.

So, I'm going to keep it simple and do-able for this week's #hivegardenqotw - I want to pave the remaining concrete slab next to our back deck. The slab is there from a patio the last owners built which we removed because it was ugly. Jamie finally built a back deck over it last year which is awesome but there's still some ugly, cracked slab left which I've softened with planters and table and chairs but it still BUGS me.

I was recently in Bali, and their gardens are sublime. I love how they do all their paths in small stones like pictured below.

The yin and yang is a bit much maybe but some kind of design would be really cute. I think in the end I'll just get some crazy paving off Facebook marketplace for free or cheap and do it that way. We've done that kind of thing before, after all.

It'll be cheaper than a swimming pool anyway.

What do you dream of building in your garden?

With Love,

No need for crazy paving. Just get a sledge hammer, and some rocks. Hammer out some cracks, put fancy rocks in. Epoxy and seal :P Job done!

It might be a bit more violent and unplanned, but hey, a sledge hammer is GREAT FUN and an excellent reliever of stress.

Ugh, no thanks!!!! Jamie started removing it but it was a massive effort. I think some kind of mosaic paving will look cool

What? I have an infra-red sauna in my gym. I'll swap you.

Well, I didn't mention it, but I have a water feature I got at a tag sale about 10 years ago I'd like to get out there and working, and I have an arch for a gateway that I'd like to put somewhere, with roses on it. I think I bought that at a tag sale about 15 years ago... But those are mostly pipe dreams...

Water feature pipe dreams? He he....

Wow! such a beautiful and inspiring garden space. I love how creative you are.

The sauna and swimming pool sound great but yes, they require hardwork and a lot of money. I also dream of having a pool in our garden but since I don't have the budget to get it done yet, I just bought an inflatable pool for the kids to enjoy. The downside was that the inflatable pool got holes so I just put portion of the remaining rubber in the middle of our ladys fingers plantation to serve as our water source for our vegetables near the area. It served another purpose now, lol.

I hope you get that dream pavement done soon. It will be beautiful with peebles on the concrete I guess.

Wow, you live in a paradise

With my chicken coop all but finished, I am now trying my hand at paving a path from the crusher dust of the shed. I think it looks ok as is, but I do see what you are saying and how paving into the existing path would make for visual appeal.
