It is wonderful to be able to step off the porch and pick fresh lettuce and some Nasturtium flowers for a salad.
Hanging Basket Garden
I have picked so much of this lettuce, and it keeps on producing.
The Nasturtiums have done really well in the hanging baskets and there are so many leaves that I may pickle some of them today.
I love the leaves on this yellow Nasturtium. The flowers are very tasty if you've never tried them. They have a peppery tang to them, plus they look so pretty on the lettuce.
I made some roasted Brussel Sprouts and a Turkey Burger for dinner. The fresh salad was the perfect complement, and I am going to eat a salad every day for lunch as well. This will help me with watching my weight now that I've put a few extra pounds on over the winter months. Sigh....
Are there certain edible flowers that you like to add to salad or into some baked goods? Let us know in the comment section so we can try them too. ♥
