FOODlog #1375: Malaysian Briyani with Lamb & Prawns

What a treat to have someone in the kitchen that can cook amazing local Malaysian cuisine. My sous made a super delicious meal of briyani rice with lamb masak Merah and prawns masak Merah.

The reason for both dishes cooked in the same gravy is cause one of our staff doesn't eat meat so the prawns were cooked for her. There were more than enough prawns so I sneaked 2 tiger prawns to my plate to enjoy.

The rice was so flavorful with all the different spices. The fragrance from the Ghee in the rice was so aromatic and whet your appetite with each mouthful.

The lamb was so tender, fatty and coated perfectly, almost blending in with the spicy, sweet, and Tangy masak Merah sauce. Super packed full of flavor and paired amazingly with the rice.

A side of pineapple and cucumber salad added a nice fresh and cooling component to tie the whole meal together.
