FOODlog #1431: Fish & Chips at BDF

in Ecency2 days ago

If you’re craving classic British comfort food, Boys Don’t Fry (BDF) nails it with their Fish & Chips. The golden-brown batter is crisp and light, encasing tender, flaky fish that breaks apart beautifully with each bite. Piping hot so beware before sinking your teeth into this.

Their thick-cut chips are fried to a satisfying crunch on the outside while staying fluffy inside.

The sides tasted as it should. Especially liked smooth mushy peas, creamy tartar sauce, and a warm serving of baked beans for that extra touch of nostalgia. The set comes with a refreshing lemonade that you can refill.

BDF doesn’t try to reinvent the wheel — instead, they serve up a faithful rendition of a British classic done right. It’s comfort fish & chips: simple, satisfying, and full of familiar flavours that hit all the right notes.

For one horrible moment, I thought you had got beans instead of mushy peas. Then I saw from the second pic that you had both.

Pure food genius! But now I'm very, very hungry 🇭🇺 (nearest I can get to a hungry emoji 😂).

I absolutely stopped by because I also saw the baked beans with fish and chips and nearly died!

Apart from the beans, it looks half decent. May I ask where this is please?

Unless Google has misled me, I think it's here...

With any luck, I'll replicate it in Yorkshire later this month.

Thank you, and if you only replicate it rather than massively better it, I'll renounce my Yorkshire citizenship lol
