Sweet Dessert In A Luxurious Classic Home

Travel always takes us to unexpected places. As a newcomer to a different island, I always rely on Google Maps to navigate new places. When I venture out to new places, I often find unique eateries that offer a new experience that's too good to miss.

A luxurious home. If it weren't for Google Maps, I'd think it was just another luxury home. But it wasn't. I was surprised to learn that it wasn't just a house.

These days, with technological advancements, culinary businesses can be more easily marketed, especially through social media.

So, I stopped at a cafe in the style of a luxurious classic home. From the outside, it certainly looked like a luxurious home. Well, in Indonesia, this style of home contrasts sharply with the typical Indonesian home model. So, this contrast could be considered a luxury for us here. Classic European-style buildings look luxurious.

Most wealthy people in Indonesia own classic homes with a style similar to the one in the photo.

I didn't really intend to eat a heavy meal. I'd already eaten when I passed this place. I just needed a break while riding my motorcycle.

So, I just ordered a sweet treat and coffee. I was curious, and while I waited for my order, I wandered around.

Unfortunately, the furniture in this house didn't match the luxury of the house. The wooden furniture seemed to have been added casually without any particular meaning. It was a shame.

Meanwhile, the lighting was also lacking. So, the place didn't feel as surprising as it looked from the outside.

But overall, it wasn't a problem at all. I don't mind the place. Let's see what I ordered.

I ordered chocolate fried banana. It was served with ice cream. The vanilla ice cream paired deliciously with the fried banana.

IMG_9102.jpegI liked the ice cream. It was smooth and just the right amount of sweetness.

IMG_9099.jpeg
The type of fried banana served wasn't too sweet, which was just right for my taste. Oh, and the chocolate topping was sweet, so it was a perfect complement.

IMG_9093.jpeg
So, what about the coffee? I ordered a hot cappuccino. It was served without latte art.

But it was similar to a hotel-style hot coffee. Not bad, just classic. With a good coffee flavor.

For the price, only $2. Yeah, just that. Cheap, right? So, I wasn't curious about this place anymore.

IMG_9063.jpeg
This place also has a large outdoor area at the back of the house which is usually used for gatherings.

But actually, this place is more popular for gatherings, weddings, and birthday parties, because they offer food and decoration packages. They have a good selection of packages.

So, it was a fun experience seeing how a classic house has been converted into a restaurant, as it's strategically located on the side of the road. So, for the low prices, it's worth a visit.

Is really beautiful, eat there will make u feel like queen 👸

The front of this house is so beautiful! I really like its architecture. It's a shame the interior doesn't match what you see on the front.

It's great that what you ordered lived up to your expectations, and the price was very reasonable.

Thank you so much, dear friend @anggreklestari, for sharing this experience in this beautiful place.

Have a beautiful Sunday.

The place looks straight out from movie set. My goodness 😮 epic yo! Food looks great too!

The food looks delicious, but I was more fascinated by the architecture. The stamp of colonialism is hard to erase in a culture. After I looked at these pictures I found an article on Indonesian architecture. The article describes how the colonial Dutch modified their European style to accommodate the local environment. Then post-independence another hybrid style developed.

Here's a description of the earlier colonial architecture.

Later, the Dutch learned from this mistake and started to incorporate Indonesian architecture style to the design as an effort to adapt to the environment. This triggered the birth of the Indies architecture style in the 18th century, which is characterized by large windows for ventilation, deep verandas with European decorative elements such as pillars, and Javanese style roof as additions to the original Dutch architecture style.

Here's a description of the later, post independence style:

The 1920s Javanese art deco style made a comeback in the 1950s and became the root national architecture style. Politically, it was a way Indonesians liberated themselves from any trace of Dutch influence and was an expression of freedom. Named the Jengki style, based on the word “yankee” of American armed forces, the architecture was highly influenced by American mid-century style architecture. It uses a more complicated volume of structures than the former modernist cubic and strict geometric structures of the Dutch style architecture.

I don't know much about architecture, but it seems like the columns and roof in front of the building have Indonesian influence, as do the tiles on the floor and the chandelier. That's how it seems to my untrained eye, anyway.

As you can see, I'm not much of a foodie, but history...well, that grabs my interest :)

Here's the source of the quotes:
iD Indonesian Design https://indonesiadesign.com/story/indonesian-architecture-a-story-about-indonesias-identity

The Dutch colonized Indonesia the longest, so naturally, there was a significant cultural transformation of architecture and even language.

Well, for modern buildings, wealthy Indonesians actually build classic-style houses, such as those using Spanish columns. Meanwhile, traditional architecture is only found in villages.
In big cities, even houses have taken influence from other styles, with tall, multi-story buildings. Meanwhile, traditional Indonesian houses appear wide but with short facades. :)

traditional architecture is only found in villages.

Villages, across the world, preserve culture :)

For sure, and the capital city fulfill with new culture 😊

Google maps really is helpful in this time, glad they exist today. And what an interesting find that is, the place look good but I agree with you about the furniture part. It just looks different, still, its bot that bad. The food looks okay too. So do you think its worth a other visit?

Luxury experience with expresso coffee. So nice

sometimes the outside looks super fancy, but the inside feels different. Still, that chocolate banana and ice cream combo looks amazing

Hello, that's how it goes, things aren't always how we imagine them to be. The truth is that the place looks very elegant and the furniture is quite simple. At least you enjoyed the dessert. How strange that the coffee doesn't have any art on it, that's the trend nowadays. Best regards.

Luxury and simplicity may seem contradictory. But it looks like a nice and cozy place. The important thing was to have enjoyed and get to know a new place. A hug @anggreklestari 🥰

Although this luxury home appears to be full of unique architectural features, I also felt that the furniture arrangement was not very harmonious. The lighting should also be in keeping with the house's layout.
I have never had fried bananas as a dessert. The chocolate topping and vanilla ice cream would have been a good combination for it.

Two dollars is quite cheap. The chocolate banana dessert looks delicious. I love desserts like this. And it looks more like a nobleman's house than a cafe or restaurant. It's nicely decorated, isn't it? The decoration on a cup of coffee is nice, but the taste is more important. If the taste is good, nothing else matters :)
