Comestibles Galore And A New Ride!

in LeoFinance2 days ago

Summer is approaching and already in full swing around here. I know this because the amount of stuff that I am doing seems to be increasing, and honestly I don't mind too much because it's distracting me a bit from all of the impending change.

Today though, today was a bit of throwback to my time in the bakery, as I spent the last almost five hours doing a baking marathon. I made a full batch of cinnamon rolls, including an experimental tray of blackberry-filled cinnamon rolls. I slathered those little darlings with some cream cheese frosting and then garnished them with some of the delectable blackberry filling I whipped up.

I also made some dairy free churro cookies for a certain friend of mine who is coming over for game night tonight. I will fully and freely admit that my cinnamon rolls are packed to the brim with every manifestation of dairy possible, and I will have them no other way.

I also baked a sugar free cake for my Pa. This weekend is Father's Day and I wanted to make him something he could enjoy. I am going to top that cake with sugar free cream cheese icing and shaved sugar free chocolate. Hopefully it will be good.

The baking melee made me feel pretty excellent, it is nice to utilize one's skills at times, and it's nice to know I can still make and bake multiple highly skilled things in a reasonably amount of time, even without my professional equipment.

Like I said, smiles.

There's another big reason to smile too, I got myself a new (to me) ride!

After the boy nuked my little blue car in January, I found myself hesitant to replace the car, as interest rates aren't zero anymore and new cars cost in excess of 25K these days. Even used cars are crazy, and since they are space ships you are looking at costly repairs even after you pay more than what I really wanted to.

So, I waited.

And lo and behold, something cool happened. Last month my buddy who owns a transmission shop came and got my flatbed trailer to pick up a Jeep Liberty that had a blown engine. He had a Liberty with a new engine and was going to put it in the really nice Limited Liberty that he picked up.

I wished him luck and thought nothing more of it.

Well, I was hanging with his wife and another friend of mine a couple weeks ago and his wife was talking about how that car would be a perfect rig for a teenage girl. They both then looked at me (they are tall) and said, "Kat's the size of a teenage girl."

So I got the Liberty.

And I gotta say, I absolutely love the beastie, which I have affectionately named Ariadne. It's in magnificent condition for a 2003, has a brand new engine, and makes me feel like a kid when I hop in the seat.

Plus I could pay cash for it and it's not a freaking spaceship that's going to cost me my left kidney if it needs repairs.

Happy Kat alert!

So, I am writing this missive today with a pretty full heart. This was recovery week, I am getting to spend the next couple of days with friends and fam, doing grad parties, Father's Day stuff, and a couple game nights, which is good.

Because next week I gotta start getting ready to move.

I swear my life's an adventure, and I love it!

And as most of the time, all of the images in this post were taken on the author's powdered sugar, butter, and cinnamon flavored, blackberry filling smudged iPhone.

Congrats on the new wheels! It sounds like you stumbled into a wonderful deal. All of the baked goods look delicious. I need to do some baking, but I've been too busy gardening and running my husband to appointments. I find it annoying that I can't do as much in one day as I used to and as I'd like to. I think I better get used to it, though.

Very cool about the new car! And I hope the weekend goes really well for everyone!
