Photography: Sky and Food
I took some nature photographs and a food photo. All of them looked very vivid. I especially like the pink sky, which is often seen in my area.
Why is the sunset sky pink? In the evening, as the sun moves farther away, longer wavelengths of light, such as orange and red, reach our eyes more easily.
In addition, when thin clouds cover the sky, the blue light in the upper atmosphere is scattered within the clouds and mixes with red light. This mixing causes the sky to change into colours like purple and pink. Oh, that sounds cool. The sky in this area often changes quickly because it is close to the ocean.
This is the blue sky after a snowstorm. I hadn’t seen a blue sky like this for a long time. I miss sunshine very much. We lost almost all the snow after some warm days, and now we have frosty cold temperatures. I can see just a little bit of snow on the ground. The contrast between the blue sky and the white snow in this photo looks beautiful.
This is nachos that my husband made. I love these blue chips very much. The purple chips look so pretty. There are purple, black, red, yellow, brown, and green colours. Eating colourful food made me feel very satisfied.
I love using my hands to eat. I eat sushi with my hands as well. I enjoy touching and eating food without using utensils sometimes. Finger food is such precious food, isn’t it?
Eating with the hands allows people to enjoy the texture and warmth of food through their fingertips before putting it in their mouths. Similarly, in Japan, foods like onigiri, manju, and sandwiches taste even better when held and eaten by hand. Sushi is also traditionally shaped by the chef’s hands, and many people feel it is more stylish and flavorful to eat sushi with their fingers.

写真：空と食べ物
自然の写真と、食べものの写真を撮りました。どれもとても色鮮やかに写っています。特に、私の住んでいる地域でよく見られるピンク色の夕暮れ時の空が気に入っています。
なぜ夕焼けの空はピンク色になるのでしょうか。夕方になると太陽が遠くなり、オレンジや赤などの波長の長い光が、私たちの目に届きやすくなるそうです。さらに、薄い雲が空を覆うと、上空の青い光が雲の中で散乱し、赤い光と混ざ流のだとか。その結果、空は紫やピンクのような色に変化するのですね。なんだかとても素敵です。この地域は海に近いため、空の表情がとても早く変わります。
これは吹雪の日の次の日に見えた青空です。こんなに澄んだ青空を見るのは久しぶりでした。太陽の光がとても恋しいです。少し暖かい日が続いて、雪はほとんど溶けてしまい、今は凍りついて気温が下がって寒いです。地面には少しだけ雪が残っています。この写真では、青い空と白い雪のコントラストがとても美しく見えます。
これは、主人が作ってくれたナチョスです。私はこのブルー・トルティーヤチップスがとても好きです。青紫色のチップスもとてもかわいらしくて、紫、黒、赤、黄色、茶色、緑など、色鮮やかです。色を食べるような感覚で、とても満たされた気持ちになります。
私は手で食べるのが好きです。お寿司も手で食べます。ときどき、道具を使わずに、食べものに直接触れて味わうことがとても心地よく感じます。フィンガーフードは、大切な食文化だと思います。
手で食べることで、口に運ぶ前に、指先で食べものの温かさや質感を感じることができます。日本でも、おにぎりやまんじゅう、サンドイッチなどは、手で持って食べたほうが、より美味しく感じられるような気がします。お寿司も、もともとは職人の手で形作られるもので、手で食べるほうが粋で、味わい深いと感じる人も多いです。
