It is really nice to see it growing properly again. Far too many random expenses throughout the past few years kept me from keeping it at a stable level, from helping family to essential tech dying out of nowhere. Things should be better from now on for me to let it grow.

Peakd for me has been one of the best front-ends in hive currently, mainly because it is always improving, what do you think of snaps?
I enjoy Snaps ... I see so many more good pieces of photography, art, and good posts overall, in addition to being able to get into good conversations quickly!

I don't know how much revenue this generates, but Hive needs revenue to finance everything.
Yeah, I haven't seen any revenue projections or how it would be spent. I've turned them off for now and would probably need a very compelling argument for them to turn them back on.

Same here ... maybe not 20 years for me, but a good 10. I refuse to be bullied into consumerism everywhere I go online. I understand PeakD is looking for ways to bring revenue to Hive, but this is not what we came here for.
I agree. I see things a lot more clearly now. I played the game for far to long not realizing it was rigged. I know change is possible but we may need to hit a very deep and painful bottom before that can occur. Fortunately, or not, that bottom may be closer than we know. :)
You can turn it on/off in Peakd settings. I had it on for a while but not any more. :)

This test of ads has been going on since about the beginning of the year ... it's not going well ... they may be removed when the testing is done.
Thanks @deeanndmathews - I am not a fan it makes PeakD look like any other forum site out there rather than the great modern app that it is.
I do not like it either for roughly the same reason ... I simply refuse to engage with them, thereby helping the test fail!
I am completely unaware of this for some reason. I have never seen an ad that I know of (or recall) on Peakd, which is good because I am aware of the financial power advertisers gain over those paid by them, and will oppose them to the limits of my power.
It may have to do with your settings -- I manually went in and turned them off once I knew that was a option.
If there is such a setting I probably automatically set it to not show me ads on principle, a principle I maintain, because advertisers necessarily gain influence over their chosen venues, and that's just the beginning of the noxious influence of stake and pandering it farms.
They posted about it a while back. It means that people who are not logged in see some ads and it will raise a little money towards running the site. We can just turn them off.
All is good, I have found a way of turning them off but now I am wondering, how effective this experiment has been??? Will it raise enough for the PeakD guys to run their servers?
The Leo people experimented with ads too. I don't know if either has published numbers on the income.
I have been seeing them early this year I think. This is what other people suggested before the Steemit fork I hope it will be a success
Caked with mud, this little guy performed superbly under challenging conditions. Although, I didn't fill up the SD cards, it was nice to have two in order to swap them halfway through the journey and thus avoid losing those precious images, which would've been a disaster.

Nice one. I'm not sure Hive can replace all that Strava offers, but it can give people a way to earn from their activities whilst being social. Once they are here they can experience other aspects, e.g. games.
We need to find ways to onboard communities that are already active. I know the skating community has done that. I'm looking for ways to do the same for my Cycling Community.

I was trying to edit the settings for my community and then realised I needed the posting key. Now I can't find it. Which means I'll never be able to edit the settings - is there a solution? Will I need to create the community again? I was hoping to add snaps to it.
